Grip

The golf grip is a very individual thing.  We all grip the club slightly different.  It depends on the size of our hands.  The fundamentals here are general ideas that will help you find your grip.

Start by placing your club "square on the ground". The bottom edge of the club should be perpendicular to the ground.

With the club-face square, start by placing the handle in the fingertips of the left hand.

Make sure that the handle is not in the palm.

Curl your fingers around the handle. Notice that the thumb extends down past the fingers.

The left thumb should run straight up and down the handle, but slightly to the right of center.

The right pinkie finger locks together with the left index finger.

The right palm will face the target. The left thumb fits into the crook of the right palm.

When viewed from the front, the lines between the thumbs and index fingers will point to the right shoulder.

Don't grip too tight.  Make sure your hands do not move during the swing, but don't go overboard.  There should be minimal pressure on the right thumb and index finger, they're just along for the ride.
